The Descent.

Hated it, if I'd known it would be so gory I never would have watched it.

Borat - I was very dissapointed with this, the trailer was great, but there just wasn't enough funny stuff for a whole film in my opinion. Or maybe it's just not my type of humour.

Fritt Vilt (Cold Prey) - This is a Norwegian horror film, and it's actually pretty good.

Quote
Cold Prey
It’s midwinter. Five youngsters are heading for the Jotunheimen mountain area to go snowboarding. On the slope, one of them has a bad fall and breaks a leg. There is no sign of any other people around, and their mobile phones are out of range.
They catch sight of a mountain hotel in the distance, and decide to find shelter there. The hotel lies empty and silent, obviously closed down years ago. The phone lines are dead, and the youngsters realize they have to spend the night in the hotel. But it turns out they’re not alone. In the basement they discover a filthy dungeon of a room, where somebody has recently lived...

The Descent.

I absolutely loved The Descent.  I'd rate it as the best horror in years, possibly ever.

I've just finished watching Knocked Up which started poorly but got good.  I'd give it about 6.5/10.  Next up - Superbad :D

saw American Gangster and I was really pleased with it. I thought Washington gave a dead-on, tough performance. Crowe was good but there's only so far an Aussie can go to pulling off a New Jersey accent. Definitely glad I saw it though.

My last two were 30 Days of Night and Once.  Could there be more contrast there?  I think not.

TDON is entirely forgettable but fine.

Once is something else entirely, though I am not sure exactly what that is.  It's worth seeing for sure but it's not quite the masterpiece I had hoped for.  Ironically, that is exactly how I would review NCFOM which has been mentioned in this thread previously.

Next up are There Will Be Blood and Atonement.

The last movie I saw was Tropic Thunder. It was an advance screening (it doesn't come out until the end of August), and I highly recommend seeing it when it's released. It stars Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. (who is completely unrecognizable as a black man), Nick Nolte, Tom Cruise, and Matthew McConaughey. Tom Cruise steals the movie; he is absolutely hilarious. Seriously. The movie is very grotesque at times, but it's soooo funny. At the screening I attended, there were lots of celebs there (Ben Stiller, Jerry Stiller, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Larry David, Peter Dinklage), and I sat behind Philip Seymour Hoffman. When the movie was over he summed it up best. Direct quote from him: "I don't know what to say. Oh. My. God." Ben Stiller directed it and I thought he did a great job considering the kind of film he was making (a ridiculous comedy).

I finally watched Sicko this week also but I didn't think it was that great compared to other documentary movies I have seen.  I now own over 40 of that genre since it is my favourite but I would not say that Sicko would make the top 20.

My #1 in the genre is called 'Dark Days'.  I urge everyone to see it!  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0235327/

I saw it last night.  I really liked it.  I thought it was one of the better of the recent Superhero movies.  Sometimes I get bored at those movies and am like "when is it going to end" but it held my interest the whole way through.  I thought it was "scarier" than some of the other superhero movies, in terms of children viewing it  (well to be honest, I covered my eyes a few times, lol)  because there was a hostage scene and other more real violent scenes so I wouldn't really recommend it for anyone under 14 or 15.  I was suprised that some people brought really young kids (like elem age) to it.
I'd give it a B+ . I thought Robert Downey Jr. did an excellent job and I wasn't sure to expect because he's not the typical superhero type.

I saw "Iron Man" today and give it a 7/10.  It's good entertainment and very funny.  The whole cast does a good enough job, but Robert Downey Jr makes the movie.

Last night I saw "City of God", which is maybe the best organized crime drama I've ever seen.  It's epic, the acting is fantastic.  Everything about the film is great.  9/10.  Might go higher with that in time.

Other movies I watched this week:  Grave of the Fireflies (7/10) and Casablanca(8/10)

I saw Batman The Dark Knight (http://thedarkknight.warnerbros.com/) on Friday, Verry good film got to be the best one of them all, joker was played well by Heath Ledger  (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005132/) (may God Rest his Soul), didn't have the right mix of characters for me as the Scarecrow Cillian Murphy  (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0614165/) was only in the film for around 10 mins if that, then they brought Harvey Dent in at the last minute by my standards but as least hes the right man for it this time played well but Tommy Lee Jones but pulled of even better by Aaron Eckhart (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001173/) only god knows why they cast Billy Dee Williams for the part in Batman (1989). Moving quikly on to Lucius Fox brought back from the last film again by Morgan Freeman (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000151/) and plays the part like the Pro he is, Michael Caine (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000323/) doing justice again to the part of Alfred (the butler) Pennyworth

I watch alot of movies so it is hard for me to say which one i saw last. Infact today i saw two, Carlito's way (Al Pacino & Sean Penn) and An America Murder.  I am not a person who likes batman and those type of movies however i think i will watch the dark night. People have been saying good things about the movie and the ratings are pretty high. Tomorrow i will watch Cocaine Cowboys 2 (docu) and Wanted by the sexy Angelina. :P

Movies I have seen this summer. Get Smart, Wanted, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Hancock.

The Dark Knight was awesome, by far the best I have seen this summer. This movie will and has attracted more than Batman or comic book fans, it is just a a great movie. The Joker, was phenomenal and Heath Legder was amazing, he deserves the praise the he is getting. It is a tragedy he is not here to receive it.

Yesterday i saw Australia,it has gotten some negative reviews but i enjoyed watching it,especially the gorgeous scenery and the adorable little boy. It's a nice movie to see this time of the year because it has humor, love, romance and a happy ending. The only two little downsides for me were that it was a bit long and it was too bad you didn't feel any spark or chemistry between Hugh and Nicole.

I rented "Into the wild " on DVD yesterday and absolutely loved it.
Screenplay and directed by Sean Penn and the beautiful music by Eddie Vedder was a big bonus.

After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

well your problem with Mama Mia is that you're not a 15yr old girl. If you were then you would have thought it was one of the greatest films of our time. But I'm with you - that one belong on the dung heap. Pierce Brosnan made a good James Bond but he can't sing for spit. Sounded like someone was stepping on a cat's tail.

Last movie I saw was 2 days ago. We took our daughter to see the sneak preview of the new Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs in 3D. It was very cute and really well done.
