Quote from: raisemyglass;528
Fyodor Dostoevsky

Suicide would have been the easy way out of reading Crime & Punishment... I could read about 10 pages and not help falling asleep... damn required reading.

But my favorites:
Bob Dylan (Chronicles Vol. 1 was excellently written and interesting)
Robert Jordan (if only I had the ambition to read that much, WoT was awesome)

I also have a really interesting book by Christopher Ricks called Dylan's Visions of Sin that is really interesting and very very well written.  I have to sit there with a dictionary to understand half of the stuff he says, but he analyzes the stuff so intensely that it gives me shivers at times.

Been a Tolkien fan since the 1960s. Other authors I like include Jeffrey Deaver, Christopher Brookmyre, John Sandford and Jasper Fforde. I also particularly like all of Richard Dawkins' books.
