Italy and France met in the final of the EC in 2000 en World C. in 2006 (and the real footballfan probably knows of more matches)... So cmigs I think they know eachother.

I was being sarcastic... I remember the 2006 final quite well (as well as the 98 Cup quarters).

Ha sarcasm is sometimes hard to follow when things are written in black and white. I must say I was more impressed by the French but he..both countries will have the same chances!

I hope the Dutchs will not give flowers to the Romania just because they are already qualified even if Holland is the country of tulips ! :D

dont think its in their best interest to lose this 1 on purpose. Ofcourse there will b a bunch of players given rest, but the subs want to do their best as well. So, its gnna be a game, not just a forfit.

I am sure about that as well. I think losing will mean losing the winning mood which is bad.... But I wonder: When they win and France-Italy is a draw...what happens then? We have three teams with three points...

I gather if France and Italy draw at full time, they will take penalties whatever the result of Holland against Romania. If that does happen it will depend if Holland beat Romania by 2 goals or less then Romania will also qualify, 4 goals or more then the winners of penalty shoot out between France & Italy qualify. If Holland win by 3 goals it will be the country who has scored the most goals, if they are level I don't think even UEFA know the answer to that, probably end up drawing lots.

i recall reading somewhere that if there were several teams with the same points, they wouldnt take the goal difference as the second parameter, they would use 'fair play': the team with less yellow and red cards would make it into the next round. silly, silly decision IMO.

Yes when teams have all the same points then it's the goal average who make the difference !

The criteria for these European Championships if teams are level on points are

1st Head to Head between the teams
2nd Goal Difference
3rd Goals Scored

If all are equal as I said earlier I'm not sure how they will deceide which team qualifies
