I just noticed we're getting seed points now, kudos to those who made this possible!  Just wondering how it works exactly.
Thanks!

You get seeds points based on how long you seed (time wise) a particular torrent.

The more you seed, the more points you get to trade to improve your ratio. This will help people who come late to a torrent or have trouble uploading to others. Just keep your torrent active on your client and you will earn points.

Thats a good idea :) I always keep my torrents open as much as possible, but no one wants to download :( Plus my connection isn't the fastest. Always worried that my ratio is bad and might get me banned

Don't worry about getting banned. However please try to keep your torrents open when you can.

Maybe those more technically savvy than me can explain how some people on any torrent site seem to be able to upload huge amounts.  Is it all strictly down to how fast your connection is or is there ways you can 'cheat' and by that i don't mean bump your ratio by foul means but by tweaking how your torrent client works etc.

For instance I was in the first batch of people who got on the the recent melbourne show (27th) and although i have managed to upload 1.14gb a lot of other people have uploaded much more and that's despite me seeding it since i jumped on.

i've also seen it on dime where a show I've seeded and kept open for as long as i can and only uploading 1.5 gb while some others are uploading 7/8 gb.

Just curious.

A lot of that has to do with their ISP and how much they are allowed to upload.

Some ISPs cap the upload speed quite a bit, and others don't.

So while you may be connected to the same peers at the same time, you may be capped at 40kbs, and they might be capped at 100kbs or have no cap at all.

Kev it's really depend of your connection and your ISP.

Like said Jason some ISP will try to cap or block some port on your connection and they can limit your upload.

Also if you have a slow connection and a firewall without any configuration for your bittorent client that will have consequences too.

There is no way to cheat the serveur if some people upload huge amounts it's because they have a very good connection and their ISP doesn't limit them and their client/firewall is well configured.

I'm lucky for have a good connection and ISP and i did myself the firewall configuration and i'm using utorrent client and eveything is fine and last thing i keep my torrents open then my upload ratio become bigger.

I hope it helped you ! ;)

Judith i already told you that i wown't ban you. You are an active member here so you don't have to leave your laptop on all night. Just open them in the morning. I also do this since i don't like leaving laptops on all night.
