can anybody recommend a easy and safe way to caoture video from youtube to hard drive ?

I use realplayer it works great and is super easy to use

I use an addon on Firefox who work perfectly and so easy to use it's Video DowloadHelper.

for the love of God and all thigns holy, please NEVER install Real player.

There are quite a few solutions, though the easiest and most practical is http://www.keepvid.com/ just copy and paste the link there. You can even select the quality you want. No hassle, no software to download.

Real player still exists? I thought that terrible software went away. I have used keepvid and it works wonderful.

realplayer was the sole reason i had to buy a new pc a few years back. talk about a shitty program.

With every video i watch on youtube i still get a pop up from real player asking me if i want to download it,very persistant, i don't even remember ever installing it:rolleyes:

try downloading "Revo Uninstaller". The free version is really good on uninstalling unwanted programs.

I don't like install a software that i doesn't know and who could install ad or spam and toolsbar so i prefer use my firefox plugin :p

KEEPVID seems to have changed , no longer free or simple to use , if there an alternative with no software to download ?

I have a mac and I use firefox. The add on that works great is called "Easy Youtube Video Downloader 5.4"

Works great and is really easy to use. You can download mp4's, mp3's and flv.

Keepvid is still free to use - it's the program as download which costs you.
Just type in the url of the youtube video at the top of the page, press download and then right-click (save target as) on the file which you prefer to download. Usually you will get several options with files in different formats. :)
