Best sounding Circus shows
« on: May 06, 2014, 06:21:21 AM »
Hey, What's everyone's opinions on which Circus shows (w/Augustana) are the best recording-quality speaking? None of the ones I have are exceptionally great.

From '09, the two that stick out are the Central Park and Merriweather Post shows. Both recorded by excellent tapers and sound very nice.

The 2010 recordings blend together a bit for me, but I recall a good sounding one from Mohegan Sun.

I do have that one - the Greek Theatre one. I have a song or two from a few shows that sound okay (Clearwater, FL? Austin, TX? Cinncinnati? Going off memory here since they are on my home computer and I'm at work).... would love to get the full shows of one or two of those. I wish the band would release one or two for sale on their website since I am sure they did a board record of them all. But I get the sense CC and Augustana don't really talk much anymore.

I imagine one of the reasons they stopped doing Live CC was because of the Circus tours - I'm sure selling recordings featuring other bands and their songs so prominently was going to be a mess.

And yeah... feels like they don't hang out much anymore. But Adam did book the new band of one of the former Augustana members at the Outlaw Roadshow (John's band Sacco... didn't think they were particularly good).

After seeing a video of them rehearsing for one of these shows, I am incredibly interested in any good recordings from this tour.  and it also answered the question I had about why LCC stopped after 2008.  I believe the above poster was totally correct.  It would have been very hard to sell shows of other peoples music and make sure it was fair for everyone and legal with all recording agreements in place.  Mystery solved!  and they started it back up again to promote the new album.
