I'm currently loving the recent album by Frightened Rabbit called "Pedestrian Verse".  Any Counting Crows fan would probably love this album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=919v-va-UT4

Every album by Jackie Greene. He's a 33 year old Americana Singer/Songwriter. He mixes Folk, Rock, Country, Blues, Soul and whatever else he feels like playing. He's a guy who was born in the wrong generation. He gets compared to Bob Dylan. I saw him in concert a few weeks ago and he melted my face. He was so good.

I am goin-g to check both of those suggestions out.

I also just saw Yarn in concert a few day ago. They continue to melt my face. Blake is one of the best songwriters in the business today. The rest of the band is top notch. Yarns mandolin player can give Immy a run for his money.

Did you know the lead singer of Frightened Rabbit is releasing a solo album under the name Owl John? Check out the first single, Hate Music. It's killer.

I've been listening to a lot of the live shows from the summer tour. I am so happy the live Crows site is back.

I decided to switch it up today. Right now I am downloading this show. Some new songs, old favorites and killer jams. Thanks Tim for taping and uploading the show.

I've also sampled new music from Old Crow, Trampled By Turtles, Justin Townes Earle, Lotus and Phish. Every single day I am listening to new music. I just heard a new song on the radio by Morrissey.

I just heard a new song from the band Roses Pawn Shop that I can't get out of my head. If you like Twin Forks, Old Crow or just good music then I highly recommend you check them out. Roses Pawn shop is like Old Crow with more drums or Twin Forks with less pop and more folk, country and Bluegrass. Click the following links to sample 2 songs from Roses Pawn Shop's new album Gravity Well due out in the fall. Just like that other band I like (Yarn) Roses Pawn Shop make country/bluegrass music for people that don't like country/bluegrass.

Also, really enjoying the new First Aid Kit album "Stay Gold".  Some of the tracks the link below could easily be an Adam Duritz song.

They play First Aid Kid on the radio. wfuv.org it's not a commerical radio station but its still radio.

This past Friday I saw Trigger Hippy in concert. They were so good. www.triggerhippy.net

Trigger Hippy is a powerful, soul-infused rock and roll band founded by Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman featuring twin lead vocals from multi-platinum recording artist Joan Osborne and singer-songwriter Jackie Greene who also plays guitar and keyboards.  Rounding out the group are lead guitarist Tom Bukovac, who co-produced the EP with the band, and bassist Nick Govrik.

According to The Memphis Commercial Appeal, the bands material draws “…heavily from the members’ shared love of R&B and soul — lots of Al Green and Stax, some old blues covers and a little bit of Led Zeppelin and Little Feat thrown in for good measure.”

Built for the stage, Trigger Hippy’s early warm up shows have already garnered acclaim.  This new creative collective of musicians will announce extensive touring soon, including January 2014 dates.

No problem. I'm not sure if there's such a direct similarity, but I definitely get a Ryanish vibe from his voice and his guitar playing.

Speaking of sounding like Ryan Adams? For years I have been buying music from cdbaby.com "the best independent music store on the web" If you do a search for Ryan Adams you will find a ton of bands/artist that say they sound like or have been influenced by Ryan Adams. Here's someone that I sampled that indeed sounds like Ryan Adams. I like that you can search this website for famous artist like Ryan or Crows and find new music from unknown people.

Years ago I discovered this album by the band Just Off Turner called End of Play. It was Alternative Rock. However it had some of that Counting Crows Organ thing going on that drew me in. I have not listened to this album in years but I may have to dust it off.  You can sample it at the following link. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/justoffturner
