Chris' Video Vault
« on: August 05, 2017, 05:42:47 PM »
An ongoing series of videos, posted to Youtube, sharing the wealth of video footage traded on Crowstown over the years.

Chris' Video Vault #1
Rome, April 28, 1994

Classic early show, best circulating video version. One of my favorite performances of Sullivan Street... the way Adam just collapses at the end... wow.
Thanks to Simon Cauchi for sharing this at CrowsTown back in the day.

A whole show from the RTS tour in Minneapolis. It's a fan shot video, from 1997, so bear that in mind when thinking about the quality. Given that, it's very watchable.
This was pretty rare video for a long time, until Rob shared it a few years back.
Enjoy.

A second one today. Christopher Dilworth had included this in his compilation, but the source on Youtube before only had Anna Begins, and the audio was a bit dodgy. This has both Anna Begins and Round Here, and the sound quality is a significant upgrade. Pretty awesome vocal on Round Here.

Okay, what was supposed to be Video Vault #4 has a copyright claim against it, so instead, here's a piece of a show from August 2001 in Austin. Lots of August stuff (great Round Here with Ryan Adams' Come Pick Me Up alts), and some of the Hard Candy songs a year before their release. Enjoy.
This was shared, and I believe taped, by Woody the French. If he's out here, thanks buddy.

A 2009 show from St. Louis. Taped from the big screen at the show, so you're getting nice camera angles. Interesting setlist, too, with some stuff that's really become uncommon over the last few years. Thanks to the taper.

I really love this one. The Crows' 2008 performance on Soundstage replayed on Palladium all the time back in the day, to the point where I probably knew all the banter at one point. Great performance of most of SNSM (which I think has become a slightly underrated record).

A full show from the RTS tour at the Beacon Theater in New York. Shot at an interesting angle and keeps a nice close up on the band.

A complete show from a run in London '04. Love the setlist, which includes Round Here, Elisabeth, and Rain King - Elisabeth has the Black Sun alts, which are among my favorites. Rain King has Thunder Road and Round Here has Raining in Baltimore. Picture is pretty solid, and the audio is good (although there's some talkers near the taper, the bastards).

A DirecTV broadcast of a chunk of a show from Chicago in 2004 (as well as, oddly, stray songs from other bands mixed in). Adam was deep into "I only wear Cal shirts and black sweatpants" phase. Good performance - I'm pretty fond of this era (maybe because the setlists were heavy on stuff I like).
The opening Rain King (with Raining in Baltimore) is lovely. Sullivan Street has the Runaway Girl alts. Murder of One has the Not Alone alts.

A whole show from the August tour, in April '94 in London. Shot from the balcony, a pretty decent angle. (Note that the actual show is about 65 minutes long - the video had some padding for some reason.)

Uploading a bunch of videos from the 2008 show at Bowery Ballroom. I don't appear to have the complete show, but a lot of it. Will update this post as the videos finish processing. Here's the first one. Video is from multiple sources, but mixed with audio from a better tape. Thanks to all who contributed to this... they are listed in the description.
This was a great show... the band played a great first set (opening with Colorblind, a great Round Here, and a rare Raining in Baltimore that had me gasping). Then they returned and played most of the then new record (SNSM), with Adam telling the story behind each song.
(For these, the rest should start coming up as watch next on Youtube, or go to my channel to make a playlist.)

A complete webcast from 2003, when the Crows played the release party for AOL 9.0 (yes, that's a real thing that happened). AOL had run some ad making fun of Idaho, and so they put on a show there with the Crows headlining. If you didn't see them during this time, this is a pretty good representation of what the experience was like (down to the acoustic Rain King opener).

A bit of a show from 2004, shot from the photographer's pit. I can't confirm this, but I always assumed this was taped for possible use with the old fan club, Cloudkookooland - there's a couple like this, the shooter is set up so close, and it was around this time that they were putting up quite a bit of live content there.
Thanks to Rob for sharing this a number of years ago on CrowsTown.

The Crows' performance on the Today Show in 2004. I think we sort of forget how much Accidentally in Love, following up Big Yellow Taxi, really put the Crows back in the mainstream for a bit. Quite an outfit for Adam.
