I would say anyone can help by uploading what they have that's not there currently. The more people contributing to it, the faster it will go. The shows are pretty well marked, so it should be easy to see what's up there.

Crows-Town Share update

It's been about 3 weeks since cmstewart and myself started the share.  I wanted to provide a little update.

First and foremost, I want to say thank you to the members that have been contributing.  We have 8 people currently involved in the project:

  • adamness
  • allenduritz
  • cmstewart
  • cmigs
  • dan33185
  • jeff
  • happymundays
  • kruyk
We could always use more people that have extensive archives *cough* Jason *cough* :)

Second:  We have about 61GB of stuff uploaded so far.  A lot of it is duplicates (different formats).  Going off Simon's list, I'd say it's safe to say that we have all of AAEA 1992-1994 uploaded, and we are starting to fill in RTS.  Our focus is on lossless (APE, SHN, FLAC, WAV),but we take lossy as well.  If something is uploaded in an old format (SHN or APE), I've been converting it to FLAC.

Right now, the share is only open to uploaders.  Eventually, the goal is to provide a download link on this forum where people can download the collection, in whole or part.  However, we really want to get more content and to clean the archive up a bit.  We also need to eventually discuss the best approach to provide download access, without (1) pissing off the hosting provider; (2) pissing off anyone else (e.g. lawyers).

If you would like to digitally contribute or have any additional questions, please get in contact with either me or cmstewart.

Thank you for all your support and interest in the project.

I don't think it's safe to say that. I see some gaps in 1994 and we still only have an incomplete version of Deep Ellum 1993.

I did my best to examine Simon's list and the AAEA portion of the drive, and this is what we still need for that era:

10.16.1993 Deep Ellum, Dallas (Incomplete)

1.15.1994 Saturday Night Live Rehearsals, NY
1.19.1993 9:30 Club, Washington DC
4.13.1994 Shepherds Bush Empire, London
6.19.1994 Music Hall, Houston
7.02.1994 State Theater, Minneapolis
7.20.1994 Nautica Stage, Cleveland
8.15.1994 Giants Stadium, East Rutherford
11.12.1994 Corn Exchange, Cambridge
11.22.1994 Unknown, Berlin

And these 3 only have lossy copies as of yet:

2.25.1994 Shyrock Auditorium, Carbondale
4.12.1994 Later with Jools London
11.30.1994 Batschkapp, Frankfurt

Finally created an account and planning on starting to upload next week during lunch hours and some evenings. Don't think I have any of the 94's but will start with what I got and will ensure I follow the same format. Sorry for the slowness, my 1 year old has been sick the past week!

Sounds great Kruykster, pleased to have you involved!

Update - I believe I have most of the 1994 shows resolved (a good old friend is willing to help with some of the rarer ones, and likely will get most added this coming week). So, it's a good time to tackle RTS. Things are looking really great so far.

I have a question for some wiser folks on here. It's about the Crows performance at the Rock and Roll HOF ceremony in 1993. In my research, the performance took place on Jan 12, 1993 (Simon's list says 16th, but I've found multiple sources quoting the 12th). And in recent years, that performance was released in digital MP3 format in a HOF compilation on amazon and itunes. Would it be against policy to add that performance of Caravan to the drive?

If people want to hear it they can listen to it on YouTube or buy it.

Yeah, I think if it can still be purchased, it's not fair game to add to the drive. If it's out of print (which at this point means not available online anymore), it would be fine.

Hey guys, it's been a few weeks since we've uploaded anything for the RCS tour. Has everyone uploaded all that they have? If so I'll go about trying to get them by some other means. A lot is missing though. So I wanted to ask to see if we still have them around.
